Nowadays, the influence of technology in the corporate environment is undeniable. Companies aware of the new dynamics of the market need to follow the constant technological advances to modernize their management processes. One of them is the digital signature on the iPhone.

After all, by acquiring tools that improve the execution of their services, the public starts to have a better perception of them, which is extremely beneficial to make the business grow exponentially.

For this, it becomes increasingly necessary to adopt modern solutions, and, in this sense, the digital signature stands out as one of the main tools in the market.

Even though it is an essential resource for any company, regardless of size or area of activity, many people still have doubts about how the digital signature can be used and what are its benefits.

Therefore, this article covers how you can generate a digital signature, perfect for filling out documents and other text files, and later sharing them via your iPhone.

Additionally, we will cover how to electronically sign documents that have been previously scanned or sent via email, using both your iPhone and iPad.

    What is digital signature?

Roughly speaking, we can define the concept of digital signature as a resource that aims to prove the identity of its signatories in a secure way, based on encryption, virtual key and digital certificate.

In addition, it is important to note that the digital signature carries the same legality as the traditional handwritten signature, made on paper documents.

She is a kind of electronic signature whose concept is linked to the use of any electronic or digital mechanism to validate the authorship of an act.

The electronic signature has legal validity in virtually every country in the world. In Brazil, it was introduced by several norms, in particular by article 10, § 2, of the Provisional Measure No. 2.200-2/2001 and by Provisional Measure No. 983 of 2020.

When performing a digital signature, the signer uses a digital certificate to prove its authorship. The digital certificate must be issued by a Brazilian certification authority, in accordance with the standards of the Brazilian Public Key Infrastructure (ICP-Brazil). Examples of digital certificate are the e-CNPJ and the OAB token used by lawyers. There are also types of digital certificates, such as A1 and A3.

Therefore, it is safe to say that both the electronic signature and the digital signature have legal validity, according to Provisional Measure nº 2.200-2 of 2001 and Provisional Measure nº 983 of 2020.

What is the importance of digital signature?

The digital signature has been the main instrument used by companies when it comes to adopting electronic solutions to certify digital identities or protect communications on a network.

Today, the days when huge amounts of time and money were spent printing documents, signing them in person, scanning them and forwarding them back are increasingly a distant past.

The new reality points to a time when the processes of authentication, validation, trust, recognition, security and reliability of a company's digital transactions need to take place in an agile, automated and uncomplicated way.

We can, therefore, say that the importance of digital signature is closely linked to the numerous advantages that its use offers, as we will highlight below.

    Faster document signing

The signing of physical documents goes through a lengthy process when the parties involved are not in the same place. After all, it is necessary for the first signer to sign it and send it to the other person who must also sign. After doing so, she needs to send the document back to the sender.

Depending on where the parties involved in a contract are located, and on the shipping method chosen, the document signing procedure can take days and delay the contracted actions.

With the digital signature, this same process becomes faster and simpler, as it only takes one click for the file to be signed.

    Cost reduction

The adoption of digital documents represents the reduction of a series of unnecessary costs. From expenses with motoboys, post office or carriers to expenses with printing material no longer make sense when the company migrates to digital.

    Decreased movement of people

The digital signature also has the benefit of involving fewer people in the process who need to constantly travel to take documents to the parties, which represents a huge advantage for the environment.

Less proliferation of viruses and bacteria

Digital documents save the use of places destined to store physical documents, which, by the way, require a series of care, such as making sure that the place is cool and with low humidity.

High temperatures and humid environments can cause the papers to deteriorate more quickly, which allows the proliferation of insects, fungi and bacteria.

Reduction in paper consumption and sustainability

Digital documents, because they exist in a virtual environment, do not require the use of paper. In addition to streamlining the practical process and optimizing the space of your work environment, leaving it free of material, this practice also aims at sustainability, helping to reduce deforestation.

    Faster deal closing

Business processes have become faster and faster, which requires that contract signatures also need to be dynamic. While an agreement that involves handwritten signature takes time, digital is fast, which means you have more contracts closed per month.

    Rugged

Have you ever stopped signing a document because you are in another state where you don't have a notarized signature? This problem no longer belongs to you with the digital signature, as you can sign it wherever you are, even with your cell phone.
